11/08/09Meeting 10th August
A big thank you to all who attended the meeting at the Hatfield Visual Arts College and who donated generously. Consult this site on a regular basis to find out when the next meeting is scheduled or sign up to the e-newsletter using the update me link above in the main navigation. Pass the word on to your neighbours and rally as much interest as you can from those who are still unclear as to what is planned in our area.

I attended the meeting last night and was horrified to hear what is being planned. I came home and wrote a letter to the Council immediately and have started knocking on my neighbours doors to pass on the details and ask them to write too. I have already offered to take posters around Stainforth and Barnby Dun but if there is anything else I can help with please let me know. We can’t let them get away with this!!!!

Hi,
I too attended the meeting last night and was also alarmed by the proposals and the fact that so many local residents know so little about them. Today have made my own posters (Approximately 60) and posted them through neigbours doors and also left them with some local businesses who have promised to pass them on to customers who may also be concerned. The very kind gentlman at the Hatfield Post Office also let me put one of them in his window for free once I had explained to him the implications of the proposed plans.
As I was speaking with people while delivering the leaflets it has become very apparent to me that the large majority of them have little or no awareness of this issue but the large majority of whom are as alarmed as I was when I found out the true extent of the devleopment. Raising awareness of this issue is vital to the success of the objections against this development as so few are aware. I beleive that once more local residents are aware of the issues then support will be strong. However there are those who beleive that this development may be good for the community wit regards to employment. Regardless of this people still have the right to be informed so they can make up thier own minds…after all this country is ’supposed’ to be a democracy…alas there seems to have been very little in the way of a democratic process being adhered to in this case.
Please contact me if there is anything further I can do to raise awareness. I have thought that it could be possible to contact all local radio stations and Calendar News in order that awareness may become more widespread …maybe this is a feasable idea??
